🇮🇹Ciampino Airport to City Center: Getting In After a Budget Flight
Rome's smaller airport, used mostly by Ryanair and other low-cost carriers. The bus and taxi options compared, plus how Ciampino stacks up against Fiumicino when you're choosing flights.

Ciampino (CIA) is much smaller than Fiumicino and handles mostly intra-European budget flights — Ryanair above all. If you're flying to Rome from elsewhere in Europe on a low-cost carrier, this is probably where you land.
Two ways in
1. Airport bus — the default choice
€6, about 45 minutes, direct to Roma Termini. Several operators compete on the route — Terravision and SIT Bus Shuttle among them — so departures are frequent. Buy on the spot or book online.
2. Taxi
A fixed fare of €40, about 25 minutes. Worth it with a lot of luggage, in a group, or on a late flight. Rome publishes official flat fares from its airports — confirm the fare with the driver before you get in.
Ciampino vs. Fiumicino
If both airports come up when you're booking, the trade-off is this.
Ciampino is closer to the city, so the transfer is shorter — but the flight options are almost entirely low-cost, and the schedules can be unfriendly, with a lot of very early and very late departures.
Fiumicino is the main international airport, and the way in is better developed — it has a dedicated non-stop airport express.
